Theme for this year's parade is “Paniolo Country”

Makawao Town announces the 53rd Annual Makawao Rodeo Parade “Paniolo
Country” scheduled for Saturday July 7, 2018. The Stick Horse Race for all ages
starts at 8:30a.m. and the parade begins at 9:00a.m. The parade starts on Baldwin
Avenue just below Makawao School and proceeds through Makawao Town and
ends on Makawao Avenue at the Eddie Tam Park Facility. Baldwin Avenue will
close at 8:00a.m. and Makawao Avenue at 8:45a.m.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Frank Crozier, a very active outdoor sportsman, who
enjoyed competing in rodeos and polo. A lifetime Maui Roping Club member, he
also roped and worked on several smaller ranches. When not in the saddle, Frank
was an avid ocean canoe paddler and competed in many Molokai-Oahu Hoe races.

The Parade Committee has selected Sam Viveiros as our Special Parade Honoree
this year. Sam was a long time Rodeo announcer on Maui and at most rodeos
across the state. He has been a Makawao parade announcer and more recently, a
crowd pleasing participant numerous times. His decades of devotion to the
Makawao Rodeo and the Makawao parade is truly appreciated.

On parade morning, in addition to the stick horse race, there will also be face
painting for the keiki and a book fair at the Makawao Library, a Paniolo Pancake

Chili Cookoff Contest, a once a year parade breakfast at Polli’s Mexican
